Slim your junk mail waste!
Americans throw away more than 41 pounds of junk mail each year. Every year those pieces of unwanted mail consume more energy than 2.8 million cars, 100 million trees for the paper, and end up in the trash most times anyway. To reduce the junk mail you get, you can do the following things:
- Remove your name from the Direct Marketing Association list at www.DMAConsumers.org for a small $1 fee.
- Remove your name from financial mailings by visiting www.OptOutPrescreen.com
- Contact retailers and tell them you don't need a catalog, that you use the web to order
- Support legislation that will enable you to opt out of all direct mailings at www.NewDream.org/JunkMail
- Patronize a for-fee service that contacts mailers on your behalf, like:
www.41Pounds.org
www.GreenDimes.com
www.StopTheJunkMail.com
