For Students
Interested in getting involved in sustainability on campus? There are a number of ways to do it!
Take a Class
There are many courses being offered in the Fall 2008 semester relating to sustainability, climate, or environment. This list may not be complete, but we're working with the Provost on a better process. Download the list
Get Involved in a Working Group
There are several Working Groups within the Sustainability Council that work on solving problems and innovating in various areas of campus. The best way to affect permanent change on campus is to link up with the administrative staff who chair these working groups. Pick an issue and go with it! Read more about the working groups...
Get Involved in the Environmental Awareness Group
The New Environmental Awareness Group was formed in Fall 2007 with strong new leadership and a drive to get things done while having a great time doing it. This group has weekly meetings and frequent events. You can join the group yourself or you can choose to partner with their organization to lead an event of your own. Their experience organizing these events can help! Visit their website to get more information and to find out who to contact to get involved.
Lead Activities Through Your Organization
Would your organization or a group of you and your friends be interested in helping to green Mason's campuses? If you'd like to embark on a greening effort with your organization, please contact the Sustainability Office or the Environmental Awareness Group (see above) for advice and assistance to get you started. If you're a resident student contact your RA/RD - the Office of Housing and Residence Life is very interested in greening residence life!
Work with the Sustainability Office
If you have career interests in sustainability issues, there are a number of ways to become involved with campus sustainability initiatives that can support your leadership and educational goals. Some positions may be paid, depending on the type of work that needs to be completed and in what timeframe, but most opportunities will be provided to supplement the specific coursework need of the interested student as interns.
