For Faculty and Staff
Interested in getting involved in sustainability on campus? There are a number of ways to do it!
Get Involved in a Working Group - or start a new one!
There are several Working Groups within the Sustainability Council that work on innovative solutions to problems. Link up with the administrative staff or faculty who chair these working groups, or contact the Sustainability Coordinator if you're interested in starting a new one. Read more about the working groups...
Lead Through Making Changes in Your Department
If you have an idea that would change the way Mason does business, a great place to test it out is your own department. The Sustainability Office and the Council will support you in any way we can. If your idea works well in your department to reduce waste, change behavior, or raise awareness, it will be brought to the Executive Committee for their consideration to populate the idea university-wide.
Assist with Planning Educational Events for the Campus Community
We encourage you to assist in planning and organizing curricula, speakers, events, and discussion groups relating to sustainability. The Curriculum Greening Working Group and the Provost's Center for Teaching Excellence will support your endeavors. Contact Andrew Wingfield or Kim Eby for assistance.
Get a Grant for a Great Idea
Great ideas should all have their chance to become reality. If you have an idea that you're passionate about and want to see happen on Mason's campuses, you may submit an application for a mini-grant. Read more about grants...
Nominate a Sustainability Hero!
Do you know someone who deserves to be recognized for going above and beyond to make Mason green? Twice a year, at the HR Awards Ceremony, one faculty or staff member (or a team working on a project) will be recognized for their green achievements.

Plant Rescue

Faculty, staff, and student members of the Landscaping Working Group in the Sustainability Council lead an effort to rescue plants in an area that will be soon cleared for construction. Martha Slover from University Life (on right) chairs the working group.
